i finally accomplished something i’ve wanted to do for a long time – develop my own black and white film. thanks to some local flickr friends i was able to find out where to buy a development tank, chemicals and a changing bag. on saturday peter and i took a short trip to the southern tip of taiwan and i shot a test roll down there. sunday evening i developed it. i was practically jumping for joy once i saw that it worked and it all came out pretty fine aside from one shot that had a bad scratch. there’s something truly special about opening the tank to see what the negatives yield. i’m certain this is only going to make me yearn for a proper dark room where i could do my own prints even more. you can see the shot above in better quality on my photoblog. i’ll eventually have a whole set on flickr devoted to the first roll.
